Hunter Valley Public Relations has extensive experience in managing and coordinating all levels of government during media and issues management strategies. Catharina Boer and Elizabeth Flaherty have both worked within State Departments and Catharina within a Federal Department.

This first-hand experience working within government, ensures HVPR can accurately advise clients on the expectations of all levels of government, the formal and informal protocols and the processes for managing information, engaging the media and handling issues management.

Catharina Boer, senior consultant, began her career as a community relations specialist to the Federal Department of Immigration, providing direct advice to the Minister for Immigration. She has also worked within New South Wales Health advising Ministers and their staff. Catharina’s experience includes Public Relations for the University of Newcastle which has necessitated liaison with local, state and federal government. This includes a key role in providing advice on educational initiatives to the NSW Premier’s Department.

Elizabeth Flaherty, director, has also worked within New South Wales Health providing Department and Ministerial support for media and issues management. During work on infrastructure projects, she has also liaised with the Department of Planning and the Department of Primary Industries.

Their experience has included writing briefing notes for all levels of government on contentious issues, organising and managing media conferences, managing political and Royal visits, writing speeches, preparing suggested answers for media questions and ensuring the range of community engagement processes are met by the organisations they represent.
